State Operated Services (SOS), a division of the Minnesota Department of Human Services, is seeking a highly motivated patient accounting professional to fill the position of Patient Accounting Supervisor. SOS consists of an array of campus and community-based acute care and residential programs located throughout the state serving people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, chemical dependency and acquired brain injury.

Job Description:
Manage the patient billing for all services provided by State Operated Services. Monitor all billing activities to assure that claims are billed correctly and paid on time. Develop and implement collections procedures to actively pursue all available sources of reimbursement. Oversee all patient accounting activities to ensure accurate accounting is maintained. Prepare audit statements for internal and external reviews. Provide financial consultation to work groups responsible for implementing on-going service development within SOS. Supervise up to twelve employees and report to SOS Controller with regular updates on all billing activities.
Qualifications:
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, plus 5 years progressive patient financial services experience and at least 2 years of supervisory experience. Candidates must have proven knowledge and experience of federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing compliance processes for hospital and outpatient billing systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and knowledge of electronic medical billing systems and clearinghouses.
