CFO is responsible for general business operations, accounting, statistical reporting, budgeting, strategic analysis, and patient financial services.  CFO will also have a significant role in coordinating compliance issues as well as improving financial efficiencies to drive institutional success.  Preferred candidates will have a Bachelors Degree in Finance or Business Administration (or greater) with experience as acute care CFO or controller and supervision and management of financial and other departments. Primary responsibilities include:

    • Implementing controls around the data warehouse to ensure data integrity
    • Compiling various financial reports and forecasts
    • Once tool is complete, responsible for managing ongoing reporting, monitoring, and balancing of information out of the data warehouse
    • Compiling the annual budget, general ledger, and related reporting and data analysis 

Solid finance and/or accounting experience is required; must include analysis, reporting and forecasting. Experience working with cross-functional teams is preferred. Solid MS Office proficiency is needed, along with data warehouse experience. Essbase is preferred. A BS/BA in a related field is preferred.

Chief Financial Officer

St. James Health Services, Inc., a Mayo-operated Critical Access Hospital in St. James, MN providing emergency, hospital, and specialty care, seeks a Chief Financial Officer.  Specific areas of accountability for this position include planning, budgeting and forecasting, analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management attention, and presentation of findings and specific recommendations as to senior management and board.  The position also leads the development and review of financial analysis relative to strategic business opportunities. Other duties include the following: develop/monitor policies and procedures; prepare MC/MA cost reports; monitor managed care contracts, reimbursements, billing, credit and collection; supervise external audits; lead budget development process.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, healthcare administration or related discipline
  • Minimum of three years of progressive finance and accounting experience in a hospital setting or related public accounting experience
  • Self-directed, energetic and leadership attitude with a high level of integrity and ability to serve as a key participant of the executive management team

Relocation and principal residence in St. James, MN is required.
